Explore Tech Astra

Our innovative program cultivates the galaxy’s next shining stars by helping students explore and learn about careers in STEM.

Who we are

State Farm® Tech Astra® engages girls with areas of science, technology, engineering and math to build a community that fosters learning and personal development. We will open the door to a stronger future by empowering students to explore their interests and skills with a network of their peers.

I loved the labs!

We got to create animated movies and that was so fun. I’ve never done anything like that before, but I’m glad I did.

How we started

Our beginnings date back to 1999 when the State Farm Women & Technology (W&T) group collaborated with Illinois State University to create the Millennium Girls event. This program was created to encourage young minds to pursue a future in STEM.

Over the years, the event has evolved and grown, and in 2021, it became State Farm Tech Astra. Astra means star and State Farm wants students to shine. We’re excited to continue our mission for years to come.

Like a good neighbor,
State Farm is there.®

State Farm invests in education as well as diversity and inclusion. With Tech Astra, we plan to help more girls pursue the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, as they experience what opportunities are available in these important fields.
